Dear Scott, At first[in the beginning of the video] I thought that deligating a seperate time just for family and a time to work on your projects would be much better as it would make sure your spending enough time for each, without the possibility of not spending the needed time with family at this all important time.
The more I listened though, the more I realized life does’nt always work so neatly.Your book incorperates ALL parts of life, and how to make sure you’ve accomplished all parts of daily living, whether it be for the day or hour or minute. It sounds like your book will do this without you going to bed thinking of all the things you did’nt get too. All I really know is I go too bed at night thinking of all that I did’nt do and could surly use a book or lesson on how to go to bed feeling like I’ve accomplished what was needed toso my mind could rest easy.Hope this somehow helps
Hi Renee,
I appreciate your extensive comment! It did not occur to me to discuss end of the day bedtime rituals or practices, but when I read your comment I had the thought that it could be a good idea to include that. Thank you.
If you are having trouble sleeping, Chuck’s sleep mp3 is the best around. https://www.themeditationmind.com/meditation-products/meditation-mp3s/deep-relaxing-sound-sleep
Hey Scott Go for it….I like the title/concept Modern Freedom..why you say? because what is going on in our daily lives now is far different than what was going on 20 years ago…As a retiree I am amazed at how BUSY or how the busyness of my daily life hardly gives me room to think..We have access to news, family and friends via TV, Internet, FB, cell phones, landline phones…etc….All I want is time to think, to reflect, to meditate to just BE in the moment and I think that is where you are headed with your book.. Good Luck and looking forward to the book..
Thank you Mary! I am hoping to show how to change your reaction to the busyness with some concrete examples of my own situations and reactions.
Thank you. Thank you. I have so many interests and things I want to do for myself that I end up doing almost nothing. I have the time but it ends up being overwhelming and I don’t know where to start and don’t know how to prioritize them all.
Hi Donna,
Check out the Passion Test.
Thanks for reading.
Scott
You make personal growth sound like drudgery that you must find the time to force yourself to do. What if it where as much fun as say ice hockey?
Hi Mart – I respect your opinion and thank you for reading. I don’t agree with you however
It is not drudgery, I love it. Ice hockey rocks as well, I play on two teams myself. Each one is usually a blast!
Take it easy,
Scott
Great idea Scott if it works go for it!!
Thanks for the encouragement Wayne
I’m interested in seeing what other people are doing to stay grounded in the present. I have been in a meditation class for 5 years and have benefitted from it immensely.
Hi Kathy,
The best grounding exercise I have done I learned recently from a book by Kurt Leland called Multidimensional Human. I cannot recommend a book any higher!
Also, day 4 of the free meditation course on this site offers some grounding activities if you are interested.
Thanks for reading,
Scott
Hi Scott
personal growth, intellectual-(believes), emotional-(reactions), spiritual-(intuition), physical-(body needs), I am already exercising everyday by becoming observer things within me as well as around. I think intuition or something else shows me interconnections between variety of things or perhaps I see things differently because om my focus shift. If you have time, energy, skills (I would have to learn how to write a book) and will to do so i think it is splendid idea to put all aspects of “self growth as you go with daily life” together in one book.
Hi Ziggy – thanks for the comment and for reading. I am doing my best at it.
Scott
Very good Scott! Keep me informed. I am at a turning point in my life now.
Mark – we are always at a turning point, if we want it to be.
Take it easy,
Scott
Congrats on the book proposal. And good luck. It is true – quality of life can improve without making any radical external changes to life’s daily activities.
Anil – Thank you. Internal process change creates the external process that brings the visible results.
Scott
You’ve certainly hit a niche with me, Scott, always wondering where I will find the time to actually DO the work on my spiritual life . . .look forward to your inspired guidance!!
Great to hear you are interested RuthAnn!
Excellent. We do not have to leave and live in the mountains to achieve personal growth. We are most valuable where we are, in our technologically busy world. We touch people around us by the activities that we participate in whether it is work, family, or an exercise activity (which is equally important).
Hi Millie,
I’d love to live on a mountaintop in Cali or Bali, but until then, I am in downtown Chicago so I gotta do what I can with where I am!
Thanks for reading.
scott
Well, I replied to all of these comments and apparently should have approved them before commenting! Yikes! I’ll have to take care of that now.
In the meantime, here are some additional comments via email:
Great theme! All the best with the book proposal!! E.M.
…I’m a self-help junkie, but I’m put off by the fact that many teachers/authors imply that spiritual practices must be done a particular way to be effective (often at a particular price, too.) Your book sounds practical and useful. G.S.
Great idea, Scott! Best of luck with the book! L.S.
The idea sounds great!! Looking forward to reading it!!! A.J.
Sounds like you are on the right track! Enjoy the journey J.C.
I love this idea. I watched the video. Please keep me posted! L.H.
